A Digital Health Innovation to End Medical Exploitation and Save Lives

: A Digital Health Innovation to End Medical Exploitation and Save Lives ๐Ÿ‘จ‍⚕️ By Sanjeev Kushwaha – B. Pharmacy Student | Healthcare Reform Thinker --- ⚠️ THE PROBLEM: A Hidden Healthcare Crisis in India In hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across India, patients are silently suffering from two major issues: --- ๐Ÿ”ฌ 1. Medical Exploitation Due to Commission Culture Many doctors refer patients to specific diagnostic labs not for better service, but to earn commission. Even after a patient already has test reports like CT scans, blood tests, or X-rays, some doctors intentionally ignore them and suggest repeat tests. This not only causes economic burden on poor families but also leads to unnecessary radiation exposure and mental stress. Especially in rural areas, people trust doctors blindly and don’t ask questions. This trust is being misused. --- ๐Ÿงช 2. Harmful Drug Interactions Due to No Data Sharing A patient may visit one doctor today, another next month, and get medicines from a thi...

Varicose Veins: Common Causes & Treatment

Image
Varicose Veins: Common Causes & Treatment Varicose veins are a common condition caused by weak or damaged vein walls and valves. Varicose veins are abnormal blood vessels that typically develop in your legs and feet. They are the infamous bulging, twisted clusters of blue or purple veins most of our grandparents complain of often. Faulty valves and increased pressure in your legs can cause vessel walls to weaken and veins to swell and protrude.  How serious are Varicose Veins Varicose veins typically aren’t life-threatening or limb-threatening. Having varicose veins may increase your risk of developing deep vein thrombosis or a pulmonary embolism. “They generally don’t increase your chance of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or developing blood clots, which is what many people worry about.” says Dr. Lu.  Varicose veins are more likely to develop as you age, but if you have weakened valves, you can get varicose veins as early as your teens. Cardiac asthma is coughing or wheezing with congestive left heart failure, hypertension, or high blood pressure. This wheezing could be a medical emergency, depending on the severity of the symptoms. Heart failure can cause excess fluid to build up in the lungs (pulmonary edema) and in and around the airways, causing lung congestion. The cardiac cough is your body’s attempt to clear out the fluid. This can cause shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing, similar to the signs and symptoms of asthma. On the other hand, regular coughing/asthma is a condition where inflammation causes the narrowing of the airways, leading to breathing difficulties....

CONCEPT OF DOPING IN SPORTS

Image
(A) CONCEPT OF DOPING Doping is defined as the use of drugs or blood products to improve sports performance. Doping Can also be defined as the use of a substance or technique to enhance the sports performance illegally. It is a deliberate attempt by an athlete to win at any cost, even if it is by using life threatening substances or methods. I0C wants dope free clean sports. International Olympic Committee defined doping as “t he use of ony method or substance that might harm the athlete, in a quest to gain an unfair advantage, over  his /her fellow competitors." The use of drugs to enhance performance is considered unethical and banned by International Olympic Committee (I0C). World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and National Anti-Doping Agency  (NADA ) check the usage of Doping substance by the players. The reasons for the ban are mainly the  health  risk, equal opportunity for athletes to compete, alleged exemplary effects of clean (dope free) sports for...
